The car was bought by Mr Viv Reaper in the mid-1970s after an accident damaged the front end. It was exported to Napier in New Zealand where it was rebuilt and subsequently owned by Mr DN Peters the then organiser of the NZ Ferrari Owners club.

Ferrari 275 GTB

Launched at the Paris Motor Show in 1964, the Ferrari 275 GTB replaced the long running 250 GT series and established a new benchmark for Ferrari Road cars. The first Ferrari to offer full independent suspension and a rear mounted 5-speed transaxle, the 275 GTB combined beauty and modernity to make the 275 GTB a style icon of the 1960s.

Pininfarina designed the bodywork with Carrozzeria Scaglietti translating his beautiful lines into metalwork. The 1965 examples represent the earliest production run, commonly referred to as “short nose” cars due to their slightly more compact front bodywork that many collectors find aesthetically cleaner, with a compact aggression that hints at the 250 GTO before it.

Approximately 200 short nose 275 GTBs were produced before Ferrari introduced the long-nose update in 1966. That relative rarity, combined with their position as the earliest iteration of the model, has made them highly sought after.
