1967 Ferrari 275 GTB4

Undergoing Classiche certification

By the time the Ferrari 275 GTB/4 arrived in 1966, Maranello had already built a reputation for fast, beautiful grand tourers. But the “four-cam” didn’t merely refine the formula — it dramatically elevated it. If the earlier 275 GTB was a bridge between eras, the GTB/4 was the moment Ferrari’s road cars stepped confidently into modernity.

The headline is under the hood. Gioachino Colombo’s 3.3-liter V12 remained, but it was transformed. Instead of the single overhead cam per bank found in the earlier 275 GTB, the GTB/4 introduced dual overhead camshafts per bank — four cams in total. It was race-derived thinking applied directly to a road car. Breathing through six Weber carburettors, the Tipo 226 engine produces roughly 300 horsepower at a heady 8,000 rpm. For the mid-1960s, that figure places it firmly in supercar territory.

The 275 platform itself was already a technical leap for Ferrari when it debuted in 1964. Independent rear suspension and a rear-mounted five-speed transaxle provided near-perfect weight distribution.

STATUS: Metalwork

In the GTB/4, that chassis finally met an engine fully capable of exploiting it. High-speed stability improved over the early short-nose 275s, thanks to subtle body revisions and the now-standard long-nose design. The car felt planted, poised, and — for its time — remarkably balanced.

Inside, the cabin remained purposeful but subtly improved. Toggle switches, Veglia gauges, and that iconic open metal gate defined the driving environment.
Between 1966 and 1968, Ferrari built roughly 330 examples of the 275 GTB/4. That modest production run, combined with the car’s technical significance and visual purity, has made it one of the most coveted road-going Ferraris of the 1960s.

Currently undergoing restoration in the Bell Sport & Classic workshops this exceptional Ferrari will present in factory original spec. of Rosso Chiaro over Nero leather.
