If you care about driving the 991.1 GT3 RS is properly full on.  It has the wheels and tyres from the 918 Spyder, the same seats, steering wheel and brakes and adopted the Turbo body which yields two major benefits – wider tracks to aid grip and side air intakes which cause less turbulence and have more ram-air effect into the engine.

Wind the window down and the induction noise from the rear arch intake is awesome. There are titanium conrods and the crankshaft is made from V361, a super-high purity steel that’s repeatedly melted in a vacuum to remove impurities (it’s also used in the 919 LMP1 car) and a titanium exhaust to save weight.

The RS’s engine can unquestionably be ranked among the very best of any super-sports car on the market.  Producing 493bhp at 8,250rpm and 339lb ft at 6,250rpm this car will run sub-3.5s to 60 mph flawlessly and ridiculously easily, time after time and continue accelerating to over 193 mph.

The GT3 RS set up delivers not only incredible adhesion to the road (or track) but also quite breathtaking handling balance and response, and equally astonishing levels of feedback from all four corners of the car.

It dives into corners with an unshakeable determination to make the apex, almost regardless of what you happen to be doing with your feet when you turn in.

Add to that the 991.1 RS’s biggest advancement over any previous 911: downforce. The rear wing makes up to 220kg of it, while the front spoiler and body profile generates up to 110kg. In both respects, that’s double the downforce of the RS 4.0.
