Vehicle Description

Special order Blu Swaters with Nero leather/ Grigio Alcantara, Grigio Chiaro stitching, Charcoal Alcantara carpets.

This impeccably spec’d Ex-Chris Rea Ferrari F12berlinetta is painted in the beautiful and unusual Blu Swaters – a dark blue that comes alive when seen in direct sunlight. The colour is named after Jacques Swaters, a racing driver and former team owner of Ecurie Francorchamps.

Full Ferrari dealer history. 12,200 miles.

When Maranello announced the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta on the eve of the 2012 Geneva motor show, its billing as the fastest road-going Ferrari ever made, either in terms of bald acceleration or around the firm’s Fiorano handling circuit, or indeed anywhere, was formidable.

Straddling the line between GT and full-blown supercar, the Ferrari F12 is a heart-thumping thriller with one of the best engines known to man.

Although Ferrari has been making front-engined V12 grand touring sports cars for the road for almost six decades, the car to which the new F12 owes its biggest debt is probably the 275 GTB of 1964. Since the 275, Maranello has made equivalent front-engined V12 models in the form of the 365 GTB/4 (Daytona), 550 Maranello, 575M and 599. But during a 23-year gap between the Daytona and 550, it abandoned the front-engined V12 concept to experiment with mid-engined flat 12 models such as the Testarossa.

If there is such a thing as a front-engined supercar, then the Ferrari F12 is surely it. While its mechanical layout mirrors that of a traditional Ferrari grand tourer, the execution is extreme, and closer to the smaller, lighter mid-engined cars from Maranello.

The F12's 6.3-litre V12 is one of the finest in any road car producing 730bhp at 8250rpm (it revs to 8700rpm) to give you 0-62mph in 3.1-seconds and a top speed of over 211mph. Those acceleration figures put it ahead of a McLaren F1. Around Fiorano it’s faster than an Enzo or even the ultra-extreme 599 GTO.

However, the F12 is also (relatively) practical for daily use - there is enough space behind the two seats for coats and shopping bags. Further back, the boot is large by supercar standards, easily fitting a couple of large cases.

In a world increasingly pushed towards turbochargers and electric motor assistance, there’s a splendidly old-school decadence about a naturally aspirated 6.3-litre V12 that revs to the moon. Enjoy it while you can!
