The Defender OCTA is the most powerful, most extreme and most technically ambitious production Defender ever built. A flagship evolution of Land Rover’s most enduring nameplate, developed to combine genuine all-terrain ability with modern high-performance SUV pace.
Beneath the bonnet sits a 4.4-litre twin-turbo mild-hybrid V8 producing 626 bhp, delivered through an 8-speed automatic gearbox and advanced all-wheel drive system with locking centre and rear differentials. Performance is remarkable for a vehicle of this size and ability, with 0–60mph quoted at just 3.8 seconds and a top speed of up to 155 mph.
The engineering is far more than power alone. OCTA-specific 6D Dynamics suspension uses hydraulically interlinked dampers and height-adjustable air springs to deliver exceptional body control on road and greater composure off it. Wider tracks, raised ride height, strengthened hardware, bespoke braking, OCTA Mode, Terrain Response calibration and a more assertive chassis set-up all underline its role as the ultimate Defender: not simply faster, but tougher, sharper and more capable.
On the road, the OCTA has a breadth few performance SUVs can match. It has the speed and character of a modern V8 super-SUV, yet retains the driving position, visibility, presence and go-anywhere confidence that define the Defender. Off-road, it moves into a different class again, with enormous traction, deep wading ability, long-travel composure and a rally-raid-inspired sense of invincibility.
Finished in Petra Copper over black, this 2025 OCTA is a highly desirable example of Land Rover’s most extreme modern Defender: dramatic, technically fascinating, exceptionally capable and already one of the defining performance 4x4s of its era
