This 1971 Porsche 911 T Coupe is a particularly attractive example of the early long-wheelbase 911. The 911 T occupies an important place in the early 911 story. Introduced as the more accessible, purist member of the range, sitting below the 911 E and 911 S, the T retained the core ingredients that defined the original 911 formula: compact dimensions, light weight, rear-mounted air-cooled flat-six power, delicate steering and an unmistakably mechanical driving character. By 1970, Porsche had evolved the model with the longer-wheelbase chassis and enlarged 2.2-litre engine, giving the 911 T greater stability, improved usability and a more rounded character, while preserving the agile, communicative feel for which these early cars are now so highly prized.

Originally supplied by Porsche America, it was first registered in the UK on 14th November 2022 and is accompanied by its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. It also benefits from desirable 911 S upgrades, including S-type instrumentation, an ultra-rare S rev counter, S speedo and upgraded front brakes. These enhancements give the car a subtly more focused feel while preserving the essential character and usability of the T.

The quality of the restoration is a major part of this car’s appeal. The work was commissioned with Ninemeister, one of the UK’s best-regarded independent Porsche specialists and a name particularly associated with air-cooled 911 expertise, engine building, sympathetic upgrades and high-level restoration work. The restoration included a full engine rebuild followed by a total bare-metal body restoration, repainting and careful reassembly.

The interior was retrimmed by Southbound, another highly respected Porsche specialist, and has been executed to a very high standard. The black leatherette, basketweave centres, Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio, competition steering wheel and top-tinted windscreen combine to create exactly the right period atmosphere: purposeful, simple and authentically early-Seventies Porsche.

Today, early long-wheelbase 911s are among the most usable and desirable of the pre-impact bumper cars. They offer the delicacy and lightness of the original 911 shape, but with the added composure of the later chassis and the stronger 2.2-litre engine. The best examples are increasingly judged not only on colour, condition and specification, but on the quality and provenance of their restoration.
