1973 Ferrari 246 GT Dino (SOLD)
1973 Ferrari 246 GT Dino (RHD)
A fabulous, low-mileage example of one of Ferrari’s most instantly recognisable models – the Ferrari 246 GT Dino. Presented in Rosso Chiaro with a Black / Red interior. This fully matching numbers example displays 34,000 miles, and is in beautiful condition both inside and out. A very original example of a classic Ferrari, the car comes with a detailed file documenting its history, has been thoroughly inspected and fully serviced.
Registered ‘new’ in the UK in July 1973, the car is one of the 488 right-hand drive, UK supplied, Ferrari 246 GT Dino’s. This is an E-series car, and is finished to UK specification with Cromodora alloy wheels, ‘clap-hands’ wipers, electric windows and headlight covers. Finished in Rosso Chiaro with black vinyl & red toweling centres, with mousehair dash and rosso and carpets.
Previous owners have lavished much care and attention on the car, documenting everything that’s been done to it and creating a large file of documents and invoices that chart and support its history. Bell Sport & Classic have given the car a thorough inspection, replaced the original rubber suspension bushes with our own polyurethane bush kit to improve ride quality and tautness, replaced the door seals and hoses as a precautionary measure, and given the car a full service.
Named to honour Alfredo ‘Dino’ Ferrari, Enzo Ferrari’s son and heir, the Dino marque was launched in 1968 as an ‘affordable’ alternative to the Porsche 911. Powered by a 2.4-litre double-overhead-camshaft V6 engine producing 195 bhp, the Dino was a daring move for the period: its mid-engine layout being associated more with sports racing cars than production cars and its curvaceous bodywork mirroring some of the fabulous ‘P series’ race cars Ferrari produced during the early-to-mid 1960s.
The Ferrari 246 GT Dino is undoubtedly one of Ferrari’s most iconic cars, its distinctive looks and place in Ferrari’s history causing a keen demand that has seen values appreciate in recent years. This is an outstanding example, made all the more desirable by its current condition, low mileage and documented history.
