2017 Mercedes AMG GT R Premium (SOLD)

This hardcore 911 GT3 RS rival blasts in with 577bhp from the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, the dual-clutch helping the AMG GT R crack 0-62mph in 3.6 seconds and reach 198mph flat out.

Our stunning example is spec’d with:

AMG Track Package, AMG Rear Axle Steering, AMG Ceramic Brakes, Titanium Exhaust, Lithium-Ion Battery

Sports Seats, Carbon Roof, Carbon Rear Spoiler Carbon Door Sills, Carbon Mirrors

Rear View Camera, Parktronic System, Lane Tracking Pack, Adaptive Cruise Control, Premium Sound System, Keyless Go.

Compared to the standard GT the R sees a wealth of weight shedding – a lighter (and louder!) active exhaust system, aluminium components in the suspension reduce unsprung weight, while carbon-fibre engine mounts and chassis components have been bolted on. The changes shed 15kg from the kerb weight.

Aero is also a big focus – alongside the rear wing (which generates 155kg of downforce) and diffuser, an active front splitter has been fitted along with an active underbody panel helping reduce lift by directing airflow to the rear diffuser.

There is a three-mode adaptive suspension setup, too, designed specifically for track use. Active rear-wheel steering – a first for Mercedes –turns the rear wheels in the opposite direction to the fronts up to 62mph, and then in the same direction as the fronts above that speed to boost agility. There is also a nine-stage traction control system allowing subtle adjustments to the level of slip, controlled by a dial in the centre of the dash.

The optional Premium package, introducing keyless-go, brushed stainless steel door panels with AMG lettering, Merc’s Parktronic system with a reversing camera, an upgraded sound system by Burmester, plus heated seats.
